The South Crofty Story...
Beautiful handcrafted jewellery and gifts made from 100% Cornish Tin. Whatever the occasion the South Crofty Collection will have the perfect gift for you!
The South Crofty Collection was launched in 1988 with just two designs - an ingot and a Celtic cross - and the project was an instant success. Over the years the range has grown to over 150 items, many designs inspired by Cornish tradition and landmarks alongside beautiful contemporary jewellery. Each item is made entirely by hand, from smelting, casting, fettling and polishing through to packaging and despatch, in our workshops at Newquay in Cornwall.
The South Crofty Collection range can be found by visiting www.croftytin.co.uk where you can find our exclusive items of jewellery most of which are only available to purchase online. The remaining items usually retail through our fantastic group of stockists located throughout Cornwall or at trade fairs and markets. However due to the changes bought about by Covid19 less people are shopping in store, and markets are few and far between, so we wanted a place to showcase our remaining items of jewellery that are not available through the South Crofty Collection website, and so our Celtic Tin website was born.
On celtictin.co.uk we not only offer our extended range of products made from South Crofty Tin, the last reserves of tin extracted from the South Crofty mine prior to its closure in 1998 and stockpiled for the exclusive use of our collection, but also a selection of items made from tin salvaged from the wreck of the SS Cheerful which sank off the North Cornish coast in 1885. Both types of tin are very special and allow our customers to own a little piece of Cornish heritage.
